Wildcats, Red Raiders Split Saturday Doubleheader

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Arizona Wildcats (30-13, 13-7) and Texas Tech Red Raiders (14-24, 9-11) split a doubleheader at Rip Griffin Park on Saturday. Texas Tech won the opener, 12-3, before Arizona rebounded for a gutsy 2-1 win in the nightcap.

Game two starting pitcher Owen Kramkowski was dominant for the Wildcats, posting his best road performance of the season. The tall righty worked seven innings and allowed just one run on a solo homer in the bottom of the second inning. Kramkowski earned the win to improve to 7-3 on the year.

Wildcats closer Tony Pluta wrapped up the final two innings of game two and held the Red Raiders scoreless on just one hit while striking out two en route to earning his ninth save.

Arizona's runs in game two came on a solo home run from center fielder Aaron Walton and an RBI single from second baseman Garen Caulfield, both of which game in the top of the sixth.

Game one designated hitter Brendan Summerhill drove in a pair of runs with a double down the line in the top of the third inning.
