TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (26-10) offense erupted on Tuesday night, securing a 14-4 run-rule victory over the Grand Canyon Antelopes (22-14).
Mason White (3-for-5),
Adonys Guzman (2-for-5),
Maddox Mihalakis (3-for-4), and
Andrew Cain (2-for-2) all collected multiple hits and combined to drive in five runs.
Aaron Walton and
Garen Caulfield both picked up multiple RBI to help keep the offense moving.
Starting pitcher
Raul Garayzar worked 3.1 innings and did not allow a hit or an earned run, though he did not factor into the decision. Reliever
Matthew Martinez (2-0) earned the win following 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Right-handed
Julian Tonghini also posted a scoreless relief outing in the seventh.
Caulfield delivered the decisive blow, a sac fly to right field in the bottom of th seventh inning that activated the run rule in walk-off fashion.
