TUCSON, Ariz. — For the fourth Friday in a row the Arizona Wildcats (9-4) rode spectacular pitching from
Collin McKinney and
Casey Hintz, this time earning a 3-1 victory over the Pepperdine Waves (3-11).
McKinney and Hintz combined to limit the Waves to just one run on seven hits while striking out 10. Hintz (3-0) earned his third win of the year following three innings of shutout relief.
Arizona found themselves trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the sixth inning but promptly tied things up with a sac fly off the bat of second baseman
Garen Caulfield. He stepped up once again in the eighth, punching the go-ahead hit into center field and scoring
Brendan Summerhill for the 2-1 lead.
The Wildcats are now 6-0 at home this year, and have won back-to-back games to open their current nine-game homestand.
