TEMPE, Ariz. — Arizona women's tennis wrapped up a strong weekend at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, highlighted by sophomore Stephanie Shogreen, who went undefeated in singles play from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2.
Shogreen battled through three three-set matches to post a perfect 3–0 record. On Friday morning, she defeated Natalie Rainke (UCSB), 4–6, 6–1, 6–0. Shogreen followed with another comeback win Saturday afternoon over Kristina Nordikyan (USD), 6–0, 1–6, 6–1, before closing the tournament Sunday with a 2–6, 6–3, 6–4 victory against Madelynn Ludwig.
Junior Martyna Ostrzygalo also turned in a strong performance, finishing 2–1 in singles. She defeated Raphaelle Leroux (UCSB), 6–1, 6–4, and Maria Shmakova (USD), 6–2, 6–1, to cap her weekend.
The Wildcats now turn their attention to the ITA Sectionals in Seattle, Washington, taking place Nov. 6–9. Additional details will be released later this week.
