Arizona Dominates Arizona State at Dual in the Desert

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona Track & Field finished up the Dual in the Desert against Arizona State on Saturday at Drachman Stadium.

The Wildcats dominated the meet on Saturday, winning 28 events. The highlight of the day was Evans Tanui running a 3:59.39 in the mile to make Arizona the first program in NCAA history with four freshmen to run under four minutes in the mile in the same season. This meet also saw numerous Wildcats post top-10 marks in program history. Overall, the men won the meet with a score of 102-46, and the women won the meet with a score of 109-52.

FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Paris Mikinski won the women's high jump with a height of 6-0 (1.83m), which moves her to #9 in the NCAA. Emma Gates finished second with a height of 6-0 (1.83m), which moves her to #11 in the NCAA.

Olivia Dillon won the women's pole vault with a personal best height of 13-6.25 (4.12m), which put her at #6 all-time in program history. Olivia Clark finished second with a season-best height of 12-6.25 (3.82m).

Sydnie Vanek won the women's long jump with a jump of 20-8 (6.30m), which moves her to #13 in the NCAA and puts her at #8 all-time in program history. Anja Maraz finished third with a jump of 19-0.75 (5.81m).

Antone Smith won the men's triple jump with a jump of 51-6.50 (15.71m), which moves him to #10 in the NCAA.

Tapenisa Havea won the women's hammer throw with a throw of 162-7 (49.56m). Haedyn Bambolo finished second with a throw of 159-4 (48.58m).

Michael Ogbeiwi won the men's hammer throw with a season-best throw of 190-8 (58.13m). Richard Legarra finished third with a throw of 178-0 (54.25m)

Erin Tack won the women's javelin with a throw of 168-3 (51.28m), which moves her to #29 in the NCAA and #2 all-time in program history. Charli Koseoglu finished second with a throw of 126-0 (38.41m)

Jett Kinder won the men's javelin with a season-best throw of 219-5 (66.88m), which moves him to #38 in the NCAA.

Sam Hala'Ufia won the men's discus with a personal best throw of 191-4 (58.33m), which moves him to #21 in the NCAA. Moses Hala'Ufia finished second with a throw of 180-10 (55.12m).

Haedyn Bambolo won the women's shot put with a season-best throw of 53-3.50 (16.24m), which moves her to #31 in the NCAA and #10 all-time in program history. Tapenisa Havea finished second with a throw of 52-8.75 (16.07m).

Sam Hala'Ufia won the men's shot put with a season-best throw of 61-1.50 (18.63m), which moves him to #21 in the NCAA.

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
McKenna Watson, Brooke Lyons, Taylen Wise, and Emma Gates won the women's 4x100m relay with a season-best time of 44.26, which moves them to #26 in the NCAA.

Ari Dubin, James Onanubosi, Parker Duskin, and Mason Lawyer won the men's 4x100m relay with a season-best time of 39.31, which moves them to #16 in the NCAA.

Kara Mickelson won the women's 800m with a season-best time of 2:08.87.

Lawi Ngetich won the men's 800m with a time of 1:46.50, which moves him to #4 in the NCAA and #2 all-time in program history. Vincent Gwachi finished second with a personal best time of 1:49.03.

Taylen Wise won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.69. Olivia Dillon finished second with a personal best time of 14.68. Emily Psarras finished third with a personal best time of 16.27.

John Paredes won the men's 110m hurdles with a season-best time of 13.60, which moves him to #12 in the NCAA and #4 all-time in program history. Parker Duskin finished second with a personal best time of 13.67, which moves him to #20 in the NCAA and #5 all-time in program history. 

McKenna Watson won the women's 100m with a season-best time of 11.54, which puts her at #8 all-time in program history.

James Onanubosi won the men's 100m with a personal best time of 10.30, which moves him to #7 all-time in program history. Ari Dubin finished second with a time of 10.36.

Cooper Quigley won the men's 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:53.74.

Yan Vazquez won the men's 400m hurdles with a season-best time of 50.77, which moves him to #23 in the NCAA and #6 all-time in program history. 

McKenna Watson won the women's 200m with a season-best time of 23.20, which puts her at #6 all-time in program history.

James Onanubosi won the men's 200m with a personal best time of 20.80.

Michael Urbanski won the men's 3000m with a time of 8:39.02. Max Liao finished second with a time of 8:47.29.

Ellie Kortenkamp won the women's mile with a personal best time of 4:59.10. Kara Mickelson finished second with a personal best time of 5:03.12.

Evans Tanui won the men's mile with a personal best time of 3:59.39. Vincent Gwachi finished second with a time of 4:00.62.
