TUCSON, Ariz. — The Arizona Wildcats (33-13, 15-8) secured a series win over the TCU Horned Frogs (32-15, 14-9) with a late-innings comeback in front of 5,000-plus fans on Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field.
Arizona scored four runs from the sixth through eighth innings to overtake TCU, punctuated with a game-winning sac fly from the pinch hitting
Brendan Summerhill.Â
With the victory, the Wildcats secured no worse than a .500 record in Big 12 play with seven games remaining. Arizona currently sits in a three-way tie for second place in the conference standings, three games back from West Virginia.
Just as they were in game one, the Wildcats bullpen was elite on Saturday night. Right-handersÂ
Raul Garayzar and
Casey Hintz worked 4.2 scoreless innings and struck out six while allowing just three hits. Garayzar (1-0) earned his first win of the year, while Hintz picked up his second save.
Starting pitcher
Collin McKinney did not factor into the decision after working 4.1 solid innings and striking out six.
