LOS ANGELES- Arizona Swim & Dive fell short against top-25 USC men's and women's teams on Friday, Nov. 8. The Wildcats finished with strong performances in many areas of the meet, earning 12 first place finishes and 36 top-three finishes.
On the men's side, the No. 21 Trojans outscored the Cats 169.5-130.5. For the women, No. 9 USC defeated the Cats 193-107.
Brooke Earley and Eleni Gewalt had standout performances on the women's side. Earley placed first in both diving events, and Gewalt earned a first place victory in the 100Y BR as well as a second-place finish in the 200Y BR.
Ralph Daleiden, Haakon Naughton and Tomas Lukminas were some of the scoring leaders for the men, each finishing with one individual first placement and one individual second placement, in addition to Lukminas and Naughton earning top-three finishes for their respective relay teams. Lukminas now holds the No. 16 time in the country and a personal best in the 200Y Free with a 1:33.95 finish. Daniel Young also highlighted the meet with a personal best 52.66 in the 100Y BR that put him at No. 17 in the country.
The Wildcat relay teams also had impressive performances throughout the meet, with the men's "A" team winning both the 200Y Medley Relay and the 400Y Free Relay, ranking top-20 in the NCAA for both, and the women's "A" team earning second place in both events.
