Cats Take Down Beavers in Four

BOISE, Idaho – Arizona Volleyball (4-0) won the opening match of the Boise State Classic 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 27-25) over Oregon State on Thursday afternoon. The win marked Arizona's 15th straight win dating back to last season, setting the program record for consecutive wins. 

The Wildcats had 13.5 blocks and served seven aces to beat the Beavers. Jordan Wilson led the offense with a season high 23 kills and Carlie Cisneros added 17 kills for the Cats. Defensively, Sydnie Vanek led the team with a career best eight blocks.
 
Oregon State won the first set, 25-23.  The Beavers out-hit the Cats and used a late 3-0 run to win the opening set. Wilson led Arizona with seven of the team's 11 kills and hit .500 in the set. Adrianna Bridges and Avery Scoggins had two blocks each but it wasn't enough for the Cats to win the first set.   
 
The Wildcats won set two, 25-23, to even the match. Arizona hit .387 in the second set and had two blocks. Wilson tallied seven kills again while Cisneros had four kills to help the offense. Britt Carlson added three kills on three swings, including the set-winning kill. Vanek notched a career high with two solo blocks to help Arizona tie the match.
 
Arizona won the third set, 25-20, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Cats hit .308 and had two blocks to hold the Beavers to a .205 clip in set three. Arizona used a 6-0 run to take a five-point lead in the middle of the set and never let Oregon State within striking distance. Wilson led the attack with six kills and a .385 hitting percentage while Cisneros had five kills and Carlson added three kills.
 
The Cats won the match with a 27-25 win in the fourth set. Arizona tallied 6.5 blocks and had one ace to edge out Oregon State in the final set of the match. Cisneros led the offense with seven kills and Wilson added three kills. Defensively, four Wildcats had three blocks each and Arizona used a triple block from Bridges, Carlson, and Wilson to win the match.

Arizona will take on Boise State on Friday, September 5 at 2:30 p.m. MST in Boise, Idaho.
