Arizona Completes Comeback Over Iowa State to Advance to Big 12 Championship Game

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The No. 13 Arizona Wildcats improved to 45-10 after completing a comeback over Iowa State in the semifinals of the Big 12 Championship to win 6-3 on Friday night.
 
Arizona scored six runs on eight hits to overcome the Cyclones. Devyn Netz and Sydney Stewart led the offense with two hits each. Stewart drove in three runs to lead the team and Netz recorded two RBI.
 
Iowa State struck first with a two-run home run in the second inning.
 
In the bottom of the third, Arizona tied the game at 2-2. Netz drove in the pair of runs with a single to center field to even the game.
 
The Cyclones regained the 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth with a solo home run.
 
Arizona then tied the game again in the bottom of the fourth. Jenna Sniffen hit a sacrifice fly to score Kaiah Altmeyer from third to make it 3-3.
 
The Wildcats took their first lead of the game after scoring three runs in the fifth. Stewart hit her 17th home run of the season – a three-run bomb – to give Arizona the 6-3 lead.
 
Netz picked up her 22nd win the circle after pitching 5.1 total innings. She allowed five hits and three runs to score while striking out three Cyclones. Aissa Silva entered in the sixth to face one batter and Saya Swain followed Silva in the circle, facing five batters and retiring three. Netz re-entered in the top of the seventh to retire the final two batters and secure the victory.
