HOUSTON, Texas – No. 13 Arizona won its final regular season game, 8-3, over Houston to sweep the series. The Wildcats improved to 43-10 (17-7 Big 12) with its third Big 12 series sweep.
 
The Wildcats scored eight runs on eight hits while Sydney Stewart and Miranda Stoddard both homered in the game. Stoddard tallied five RBI with a grand slam and an RBI fielder's choice.
 
Arizona came out strong, scoring five runs in the first inning. Kaiah Altmeyer drove in Regan Shockey with a single to left field to put the first run on the board. After Stewart and Devyn Netz drew a pair of walks to load the bases, Stoddard hit a grand slam to extend Arizona's lead.
 
Houston scored two in the bottom of the first on an RBI single and a wild pitch to cut into Arizona's lead.
 
The Wildcats added one more run in the third to take a 6-2 lead over the Cougars. Stoddard took advantage of a throwing error by Houston to score from second base.
 
In the fourth, Arizona took a 7-2 lead over Houston on a solo home run from Stewart – her 16th home run of the season.
 
The Cats plated one run in the sixth to extend their lead. Stoddard drove in Arizona's eighth run of the game with an RBI fielder's choice. In the bottom of the seventh, Houston hit a solo home run to make it an 8-3 game.
 
In the circle, Stoddard picked up the win to improve to 12-0 after pitching four innings in relief. She allowed just one hit and did not allow Houston to score while striking out two batters. Saya Swain started the game and faced four batters but allowed both of Houston's runs to score before Stoddard entered. Ryan Maddox pitched two innings, giving up one hit and no runs. Aissa Silva entered in the final inning to close the game and retired three of the four batters she faced, allowing a solo home run.

Arizona will head to the Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Wildcats will play their first game of the championship on Thursday, May 8. Official seeding for the championship will be announced following the conclusion of all regular season games.
