TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 12 Arizona Wildcats secured their fourth Big 12 series victory with a 3-0 win over the No. 18 Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Sunday afternoon. Arizona improved to 33-7 (10-5 Big 12) with the shutout.
Devyn Netz led Arizona with a two-run home run and a win in the circle. She pitched the first five innings, keeping Oklahoma State scoreless and allowing only two hits. In the sixth inning, Netz hit her 13th home run of the season to extend Arizona's lead.
Arizona's offense tallied six hits, led by Netz's home run and
Regan Shockey who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
The game started in a pitcher's duel until the Wildcats scored in the third inning.
Tayler Biehl drew a walk, stole second base, then moved to third on a groundout by
Dakota Kennedy. Shockey then singled to third base to send Biehl home for Arizona's first run of the game.
In the top of the sixth,
Aissa Silva entered to face one batter in a bases-loaded jam and forced a groundout to keep Oklahoma State off the board. Netz then hit her home run to give the Wildcats two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Miranda Stoddard kept the Cowgirls scoreless in the seventh to secure the win and pick up her first save of the season. She pitched 1.2 innings in relief and allowed just two hits.
