LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 13 Arizona improved to 34-7 (11-5 Big 12) with a four-hit shutout over Kansas in the opening game of the series on Friday.
Arizona plated two runs on seven hits.
Jenna Sniffen led the offense with three hits and a home run while
Tayler Biehl went 2-for-3 at the plate.
The game began as a pitcher's duel, with both teams allowing just two base runners through the first two innings.
Sniffen led off the third inning with a home run – her fifth homer of the season – to put the Cats on the board.
In the top of the fifth,
Kaiah Altmeyer drove in Arizona's second run of the game with an RBI single to score
Zaedi Tagalog from second.
Miranda Stoddard picked up the win in the circle after pitching a 6.0 shutout innings. She allowed four hits while striking out three Jayhawks to improve to 9-0 this season.
Devyn Netz entered in the bottom of the seventh and struck out three straight batters to pick up her first save.
