Scupin Walks Off Sun Devils on Senior Day to Sweep Series

TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 19 Arizona swept the series against Arizona State with a 9-8 walk-off victory on Sunday. Carlie Scupin hit a two-run single to walk off the Sun Devils in the seventh inning.
 
The Wildcats scored nine runs on 13 hits with nine RBI, led by Regan Shockey who went 4-for-4 with two RBI and Tayler Biehl who hit a three-run home run. Olivia DiNardo and Emily Schepp both had two hits for Arizona.
 
ASU took a one-run lead in the first with an RBI single.
 
The Cats scored two in the bottom of the second to take the lead. Kaiah Altmeyer tied the game with an RBI single and Shockey drove in the go-ahead run with a single to shortstop.
 
In the third, ASU took the lead with a three-run home run, but Biehl answered in the bottom of the inning with a three-run homer – her fourth of the season – to give Arizona a 5-4 lead.  
 
DiNardo hit a solo home run – her 11th home run of the season – in the fifth to give the Wildcats a two-run lead over the Sun Devils. In the top of the sixth, ASU took an 8-6 lead with a grand slam.
 
Arizona scored three in the seventh inning to win the game and sweep the series over ASU. With two outs and two runners on, Shockey singled to drive in one run. Scupin then singled to left center to drive in both runners and walk off the Sun Devils.   
 
Aissa Silva picked up her 20th win of the season to improve to 20-4. She started the game and went 3.0 innings, giving up four runs before Brooke Mannon entered in relief. Mannon went 3.0 innings, allowing ASU to score two runs on three hits. Miranda Stoddard entered the circle in the sixth for Mannon and gave up the grand slam. Silva then reentered for Arizona in the seventh to hold Arizona State scoreless and earn the win.

The Wildcats will head to UCLA for the Pac-12 series of the season beginning Friday, April 26 at Easton Stadium in Los Angeles.
