TUCSON - The Arizona soccer team fell to Washington on Sunday in a 4-3 decision. The Cats moved to 4-6-3 on the season (1-4 Pac-12) while Washington improved to 6-5-2 (1-4 Pac-12).
Washington got an early goal, taking a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute. Ioanna Papatheodorou sent a set piece into the box where Maya Loudd was waiting to header the ball into the net.
Arizona equalized in the 16th minute with a goal by Jordan Hall. Sami Baytosh passed it to Nicole Dallin, who sent it ahead to Hall. Hall got ahead of the Washington defender, drew out Huskies goalkeeper Olivia Juarez and sent it into the net. The assist was Dallin's first of the season.
The Huskies retook the lead in the 20th minute, throwing the ball in and setting up Kelsey Branson to get the ball past Hisey.
The Cats squared the score again with a goal in the 44th minute. Maddy Koleno took a shot from the right side of the goal that was deflected by Juarez. The ball bounced around between players of the both teams and Cameron Valladares got control of it just a few feet from the net to make the score 2-2.
Arizona took a 3-2 lead in the 47th minute when Washington's Branson put a header into the Huskies' own net.
Washington evened things up in the 57th minute when Hailey Still headered a Huskies corner kick over Hisey's head.
Jace Holmes sent a pass into the box that sailed over the heads of a duo of Wildcat defenders and Washington midfielder Jadyn Holdenried to Loudd. Loudd was out in front of Arizona's defender and posted a brace when she was able to get the ball past Hisey to secure the 4-3 win for the Huskies.
By the end of first half, the teams had scored a combined four goals on just nine shots. Offense increased in the second period, and by the final horn Arizona had tallied 15 shots to Washington's 10.
With an assist on the day, Dallin's point total for the season was brought to 17.
Arizona returns to action Friday, Oct. 13 at Oregon State for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
