Cats Fall to Washington State

TUCSON - Arizona soccer fell to Washington State in a 2-1 decision on Thursday, moving to 1-3 in Pac-12 play while Washington State improved to 8-4 overall and 1-3 in the league.

Arizona struck first, charting a goal in the 42nd minute. Marley Chappel took a free kick that Jessica Ramirez was able to get to Nicole Dallin. The goal was her eighth of the season, tying for the ninth-most in a single season in program history. Her goal total this season ranks second in the Pac-12 and her 16 points are third amongst league players. Ramirez's assist was her first of the season and her career.

Washington State got the equalizer in the 55th minute when Megan Cruz got the ball to Margie Detrizio who was able to get around Sarah Rice and send the shot past Hope Hisey.

The Cougars took the lead in the 86th minute when Arizona committed a foul in the penalty area. Reagan Kotschau took the kick and put it in the right side of the goal. It marked the first penalty kick against the Wildcats this season that Hisey was not able to save.

The Wildcats finished the match with seven shots to the Cougars' 12, holding Washington State below their season average of 15.4. Four of Arizona's shots were on goal, including three by Dallin.

Hisey tallied five saves in the match, bringing her career total to 331.
