TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 8 Wildcats (19-4) completed the weekend sweep of the Bear Down Fiesta with a 12-2 win over Marist (9-11).
Arizona had four home runs from
Carlie Scupin,
Izzy Pacho,
Sharlize Palacios, and
Hannah Martinez. Scupin, Pacho, and Martinez each had three RBI. The Cats scored 12 runs on just eight hits, with 13 RBI to take down the Red Foxes.
Scupin and Palacios each hit two-RBI home runs and a pair of RBI-singles from
Jasmine Perezchica and
Allie Skaggs pushed Arizona to put up six runs in the first.
Martinez hit her first home run of the season in the second inning – a three-RBI shot to centerfield – to put the Cats up 9-0. Then, Pacho followed with her own three-RBI homer in the fourth inning for the 12-0 lead.
Marist scored two runs in the fourth inning, but
Madi Elish retired the side in the fifth inning to ensure Arizona's 12-2 win.
Hanah Bowen pitched three innings to pick up the win and improve to 6-2. She struck out two batters and did not allow any runs on two hits. Elish pitched in relief for Bowen and struck out two Red Foxes.
Scupin finished the weekend with three home runs and 10 RBI to give her 11 home runs and 38 RBI on the season.
