TUCSON, Ariz. - Dee-Dee Wheeler scored a career-high 28 points and made
five 3-pointers in the second half as No. 21 Arizona beat California-Riverside
95-66 Saturday night.
The Wildcats (3-1) were 10-of-28 from 3-point range, with Wheeler getting
six of them on eight attempts.
Shawntinice Polk added 18 points and 16 rebounds - her fourth consecutive
double-double - for Arizona. Krista Warren had 16 points and Aimee Grzyb 15 for
the Wildcats.
LaKeima Stephens led Riverside (0-4) with 17 points, and Crystal Harris and
Trecha Kennedy had 13 points apiece.
Arizona, ranked for the first time since February 2001, built an 22-5 lead
eight minutes into the game before settling for a 46-35 halftime edge.
Riverside scored the first four points of the second half before Arizona hit
five 3-pointers - three by Wheeler - and the Wildcats went on to build an 82-60
lead.
The previous career highs for Wheeler, a sophomore, were 21 points and four
3-pointers.
