Though his career at Arizona lasted just two seasons, Darian Townsend’s career has withstood the test of time in Arizona history. The Florida transfer joined the Arizona program in 2006 and put the Wildcats on the map when he won the 200 Free National Championship title and the 800 Free Relay National Championship title, helping Arizona finish 3rd as a team. The 12-time All-American followed up this NCAA performance by winning another national title in 2008 for the 200 Individual Medley. Darian was also part of the 400 Free and 400 Medley National Championship relay teams for Arizona. These wins helped Arizona secure its 2008 Team National Championship Title, the first in the program’s history. A three-time Olympian and Olympic Gold Medalist, the South African native still holds Arizona top-10 times in the 200 Free, 200 IM and 100 Free.
