It was a match made in softball heaven when Autumn Champion committed to play for head coach Mike Candrea and the then-six-time National Champion Arizona Wildcats. The Tustin, California native had an All-American career that culminated in her helping Candrea and Arizona to its seventh national title in 2006. Autumn hit .417 in her career, tied for fourth-best in Arizona history, helped out by a .489 batting average to lead the country in 2004. Autumn opened her career by receiving first-team All-America recognition as a freshman and sophomore and closed her career by being named to the all-Women’s College World Series team as a senior in Arizona’s 2006 National Championship run. Autumn was a part of three teams to make the Women’s College World Series and won 210 total games at Arizona. She remains in Arizona’s record books in the career top 10 in batting average, hits and stolen bases. One of the best top-of-the-order hitters in Arizona history, Autumn also proved to be at the top of her class academically, as evident by her Academic All-America nod in 2006.
