Lawrence Kriegbaum
A distinguished two-sport star, he served as captain of the 1916 baseball team. He won the first Southwest Intercollegiate discus title on 1916 with a throw of 117-2 and placed third in the 880-yard run in the same meet. His financial contributions are significant, including the establishment of the Kriegbaum Award in 1965, which is presented annually to the Wildcats' most valuable player in baseball. Following his death in 1970, a special Kriegbaum trust was created to assist the sports of baseball and track.
