In 1988-89 and 1989-90, he received All- Pac- 10 honors and was honorable mention All-American. As a senior member of the 1992 NCAA national championship team, he averaged 73.53 for 39 rounds, had seven top-10 finishes and was an All- American. In 1993, he won the Nike Mississippi Gulf Coast Classic, and joined the PGA Tour in 1994, where he garnered two tour victories: the 1995 Las Vegas Invitational and the 1996 United Airlines Hawaiian Open. He won the Lincoln- Mercury International on Maui following the conclusion of the 1995 season, tied for fifth at the 1996 and 1997 U.S. Opens, finished fourth in the 1997 British Open, and was second in the 1997 Hawaiian Open. He won the PGA tour putting title in 1996 and led the PGA tour in driving accuracy in 1997, and was a member of the 1997 U.S. Ryder Cup team. At the time of his induction, he was one of the leading money winners on the PGA Tour.
