No. 18 Arizona Takes Down No. 3 Oklahoma Behind Tayler Biehl Grand Slam

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 18 Arizona Wildcats upset the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners behind a grand slam from Tayler Biehl and a two-run home run from Grace Jenkins on Friday night at Hillenbrand Stadium.
 
Arizona scored 11 runs on just six hits and drew seven walks to beat Oklahoma. Sereniti Trice had two hits while Biehl and Jenkins led Arizona with four RBI each.    
 
Oklahoma struck with three runs in the first inning on a pair of home runs. Arizona answered back with two runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI groundout from Jenkins and Sydney Stewart scoring on a passed ball.   
 
In the second inning, the Sooners had two solo home runs. The Wildcats scored one in the second on an RBI single from Trice to make it 5-3.
 
Following a scoreless third inning, the Sooners plated their sixth run on a single to take a 6-3 lead.  
 
The Wildcats scored two in the fifth to bring the game within one run on Jenkin's two-run home run – her first homer as a Wildcat.
 
Arizona's offense exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead over Oklahoma. Stewart drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game and Jenkins walked with the bases loaded gave Arizona the lead. Biehl hit her two-out grand slam to give the Wildcats a five-run lead.
 
Biehl secured Arizona's win with a double play to end the seventh.
 
In the circle, Jalen Adams picked up the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. She threw six innings in relief, allowing two runs and striking out two batters. Jenae Berry started the game and struck out two batters in one inning.
 
Up next
No. 18 Arizona will continue the Candrea Classic with the second game against No. 3 Oklahoma on Saturday, February 7 at 5 p.m. MST at Hillenbrand Stadium.
