TUCSON, Ariz.- Arizona Beach Volleyball opened the day with a 4-1 victory over UC Davis before earning another 4-1 win over Colorado Mesa in their second match at the GCU Invitational.

The Wildcats came out strong against UC Davis, with Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker setting the tone early, sweeping their match 21-13, 21-10.

Sophia Winter and Jamie Streit continued the momentum, securing another point for Arizona with a straight-set 21-14, 21-17 win.

Stephanie Rondon and Adri Nieves Papaleo battled through three sets to add a point, winning 21-16 before dropping the second 15-21 and closing it out 22-20 in the third.

Sadie Moore and Brooke Boyko handled their match in straight sets, taking the first 21-17 and finishing 21-14 to give Arizona four points on the day.

The only loss against UC Davis came from Regan Holmer and Carlie Cisneros, who fell in a tight three-set battle 20-22, 21-19, 13-15.

Arizona carried that momentum into its second match against Colorado Mesa.

Holmer and Cisneros bounced back with a straight-set 21-16, 21-16 victory to start the dual.

Ashlyn Zilliken and Madeline Walker secured another point in three sets, winning 21-19 before dropping the second 21-23 and clinching the match 15-11.

Stephanie Rondon and Adri Nieves Papaleo controlled their court with a 21-14, 21-12 win.

Sophia Winter and Jamie Streit sealed the team victory in three sets, 21-18, 19-21, 15-8.

Colorado Mesa picked up its lone point on court five, as Sadie Moore and Brooke Boyko fell in a close three-set match 17-21, 21-10, 17-19.

Arizona (2-0) will look to continue its strong start as tournament play continues at the GCU Invitational tomorrow as The Cats take on TCU and Grand Canyon.
