TUCSON, Ariz. – No. 16 Arizona beat Nevada in a midweek game, 9-7, on Tuesday evening at Hillenbrand Stadium.
Arizona recorded 10 hits and
Tayler Biehl and
Sydney Stewart both went 2-for-4. Stewart drove in five runs to lead the offense.
The Cats took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run home run from
Sydney Stewart. Nevada plated one in the top of the second on an RBI single but
Tayler Biehl responded in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single to give Arizona a 3-1 lead.
In the third innings, Nevada scored three to take the lead on a throwing error and a pair of RBI singles.
Arizona took advantage of a fielding error to score two runs in the fourth inning and regain the lead at 5-4 over the Wolf Pack.
Nevada then scored three in the top of the sixth to take a 7-5 lead over Arizona. The Wolf Pack hit a two-run home run and an RBI single to gain the advantage over the Wildcats.
Arizona responded with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to go up 9-7. Stewart doubled in a pair of runs to tie the game and then scored on an RBI single from
Grace Jenkins.
Kez Lucas added an insurance run for the Cats with an RBI double.
Jalen Adams earned the win to improve to 5-2 on the season after entering in the sixth and facing the final eight batters of the game.
Rylie Holder started in the circle and went four innings with one strikeout but allowed four runs.
Jenae Berry relieved Holder and went 1.1 innings, allowing three runs on three hits.
