SEATTLE, Wash. – The Wildcats (6-2) lost to the San Diego Toreros in five sets (29-31, 19-25, 25-20, 25-20, 14-16) to close out the Husky Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Avery Scoggins and
Jordan Wilson recorded double-doubles for Arizona and the Wildcats recorded six blocks. Wilson led the offense with 26 kills and a .302 hitting percentage while
Sydnie Vanek led the defense with four blocks.

The first set went to San Diego in extra points, 31-29. Although Arizona out-hit San Diego .438-.429, the Toreros served two aces to win the opening set. Wilson came out strong, hitting .474 on 10 kills to lead the Cats.
Carlie Cisneros added five kills on 10 swings while Scoggins and Vanek combined for a block but it wasn't enough to win the set.

San Diego won the second set, 25-19, to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The Wildcats used a 4-0 run early in the set for the lead but the Toreros went on a 9-1 run to take the lead at 14-13 and Arizona never recovered. Wilson had three kills while a trio of Cats – Cisneros, Scoggins, and Vanek – had two kills each.

Arizona took the third set, 25-20, to force a fourth set. The Wildcats used three blocks and 14 kills to win the set. Cisneros had five kills and Wilson followed with four kills to lead the Cats and Arizona went on a 6-0 run to take the lead and control the set. Â

The Cats won the fourth set, 25-20, to even the match at 2-2. Arizona served three aces and recorded two blocks to hold San Diego to a .032 hitting percentage to win the set. Wilson tallied five kills and a solo block while Cisneros added three kills to force a fifth set.

Arizona fell to San Diego in the fifth set, 14-16. The Cats out-hit the Toreros .333-.286 but San Diego had three aces to overcome the Cats. Wilson had four kills and Cisneros recorded three kills in the set.
Arizona will return home to host UTEP on Tuesday, September 16 at 6 p.m. MST in McKale Center before heading to Nebraska on Saturday, September 20. Â Â
