Wildcats Drop 2-1 Decision at California

BERKELEY, Calif. — Arizona women's soccer fell 2-1 on the road at California on Sunday afternoon at Edwards Stadium.

The Golden Bears (3-1-2) struck early, with Coco Thistle finding the back of the net in the third minute off a setup from Noelle Bond-Flasza. Elle Kivo extended the lead in the 27th minute, finishing a build-up assisted by Lumi Kostmayer and Thistle.

The Wildcats (3-2-0) clawed back in the second half when sophomore midfielder Lily Boydstun scored her second career goal, and second of the season, in the 59th minute. Rose Calkins earned the assist on the play. Boydstun now joins Aurora Gaines and Jessica Bedolla as Arizona players with two goals each this season.

In goal, sophomore Olivia "Liv" Ramey posted her second straight seven-save outing, facing 18 shots overall. The Wildcats put five shots on target but were denied by Cal goalkeeper Teagan Wy, who finished with four saves.

Bedolla, a sophomore forward, earned her first career start and logged 39 minutes in the match.

Arizona was edged 18-13 in total shots and 6-2 in corner kicks. Both teams finished with 12 fouls and a yellow card apiece.

The Wildcats return home next week for a matchup against Denver at Mulcahy Stadium.
