LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Arizona women's soccer stayed perfect on the young season with a 2-0 road victory over New Mexico State on Thursday night, securing its first road win and third consecutive shutout.
Sophomore forward Jessica Bedolla provided all the scoring for the Wildcats (3-0-0), recording the first brace of her career. Bedolla broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, finishing off a cross from Rose Calkins with an additional touch from Marissa Arnst. She struck again in the 75th minute, converting down the middle after being set up by Aurora Gaines. The goals marked the third of her career and second of the season.
Arizona outshot the Aggies 13-4, including a 10-3 edge after halftime, and held 58 percent of possession. Freshman goalkeeper Olivia Ramey tallied two saves to earn her third straight clean sheet, extending the Wildcats' season-opening shutout streak.
The Wildcats will face their first ranked opponent of the season when they travel to No. 2 Stanford on Thursday, Aug. 28, in Palo Alto.
