Lloyd, Peat Bring Home Gold From FIBA U19 World Cup

LAUSANNE, Switzerland – In the Gold Medal game of the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, a pair of Wildcats – head coach Tommy Lloyd and freshman Koa Peat – played key roles in helping USA Basketball bring home the gold medal with a 109-76 win over Germany.

Peat finished with 12 points and nine rebounds in the title game to become the most decorated men's junior national team player in history by winning his fourth gold medal with USA Basketball. He is also the first men's player in international basketball history to win three junior World Cup gold medals. Peat won the FIBA U17 World Cup in 2022, the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup. He also won the 2023 FIBA U16 AmeriCup.

Over the seven games in Switzerland, Peat averaged 12.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 1.0 steals and shot 48% from the floor.

Lloyd captured his second gold medal as head coach with USA Basketball after leading the Americans to the gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup. He joins Billy Donovan in 2012 and 2013 to win U18 and U19 gold medals in back-to-back summers.

The United Stats has now won the U19 World Cup nine times, the most by any country. It was also a record-breaking tournament on the court for the United States, as they averaged 114.6 points per game to set an all-time record for this event. Lloyd's offense also scored over 100 points in six consecutive games, becoming the first team in the history of the event to do so.

The Arizona connections to this year's Gold Medal team coaching and support staff also included Liam Lloyd, Rem Bakamus and athletic trainer Justin Kokoskie.
