No. 11 Arizona Blasts Five Homers to Run-Rule No. 20 Stanford

TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 11 Wildcats improved to 15-2 on Sunday after a 10-2 run-rule victory over No. 20 Stanford to close out the Hillenbrand Invitational.
 
Four Cats blasted home runs – Kaiah Altmeyer, Devyn Netz, Emily Schepp, and Sydney Stewart – with Netz leading the way with two home runs and four RBI.
 
Netz went 2-for-4 at the plate with two home runs and four RBI while picking up the win in the circle to improve to 6-1 on the season. She threw the final 3.0 innings in relief and struck out five Cardinal while not allowing a hit or a run.
 
Arizona came out strong to score three runs in the first inning. Stewart hit a two-run home run and Netz followed with a solo homer to give the Cats the early lead over the Cardinal. Stanford hit a pair of solo home runs in the third and fourth innings to cut Arizona's lead to just one run.
 
The Wildcats exploded offensively for seven runs on three homers in the sixth to walk off the Cardinal. Schepp led off the inning with a pinch-hit homer – her second of the season – to give Arizona a 4-2 lead. With two runners on due to throwing errors, Altmeyer hit a three-run home run to extend Arizona's lead. Netz walked off Stanford with a three-run homer – her fifth home run of the season – to secure the top 20 victory for Arizona.

Up next
Arizona will head to LMU for a midweek game on Wednesday, February 26 before heading to Cal State Fullerton for the Judi Garman Classic beginning Friday, February 28. The Wildcats will face Weber State, Fullerton, Notre Dame, UCLA, and San Diego State in the three-day tournament.
