Cats Down Red Raiders in Four Sets

TUCSON, Ariz. – Arizona took down Texas Tech in four sets (25-14, 20-25, 25-23, 25-17) on Friday to improve to 14-9 (8-5 Big 12) on the season.  
 
The Wildcats hit .312, recorded 13 blocks, and served seven aces to beat the Red Raiders. The offense was led by Carlie Cisneros who totaled 18 kills. Adrianna Bridges had 12 kills and hit .500 while Paige Thies recorded 10 kills with a .348 clip. Defensively, Bridges and Journey Tucker tallied six blocks each to lead Arizona. Renee Jones and Avery Scoggins added four blocks each to help the Cats.  

Arizona won the first set, 25-14. The Wildcats hit .467 in the set and used a 4-0 run to gain the lead in the middle of the set. Arizona was led by Cisneros and Tucker with five kills each. Thies added three kills on three swings for the attacks. The Cats had two blocks to hold the Red Raiders to a .138 hitting percentage and Jones was involved in both blocks.
 
Texas Tech evened the match with a 25-20 win in the second set. The Red Raiders held the lead the entire set and limited the Cats to a .194 clip. Cisneros led Arizona with five kills, Bridges followed with four, and Thies tallied three kills but Texas Tech edged out the Cats with two blocks and a .303 hitting percentage.
 
The Cats won the second set, 25-23, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Arizona totaled seven blocks in the set to hold Texas Tech back and the Cats used multiple runs to separate from the Red Raiders. Scoggins led the defense with four blocks while Bridges and Tucker had three blocks each. Offensively, Cisneros led way with four kills while Thies followed with three kills.
 
Arizona took the fourth set, 25-17, to win the match. The Wildcats hit .448 and had three blocks in the set to close the match. Bridges and Cisneros had four kills each and hit .667 or above to help Arizona. Scoggins and Tucker added two kills each for the Cats. Arizona had three blocks in the set and were led by Jones and Tucker with two blocks each.
 
The Wildcats will head to Tempe to take on the Sun Devils on Thursday, November 13 at 7 p.m. MST.
