LUBBOCK, Texas – The Arizona Wildcats were swept by the Texas Tech Red Raiders (14-25, 18-25, 23-25) on Wednesday night in Lubbock.
Arizona's defense totaled five blocks but the offense was held to a .204 hitting percentage due to Texas Tech's six blocks and 11 service aces.
Jordan Wilson recorded 14 kills while
Adrianna Bridges,
Carlie Cisneros, and
Renee Jones had four kills each.
Texas Tech won the first set, 25-14. The Wildcats fell behind quickly and were never able to bring the set close due to six aces and three blocks from the Red Raiders. Bridges, Cisneros, and
Ana Heath all had two kills for Arizona in the set.
The Red Raiders took a 2-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the second set. Arizona hit .393 and brought the set within two points after falling behind 0-7 to start the set, but Texas Tech hit .583 to win the set. Wilson tallied eight kills for the Cats while Bridges and Jones each added a pair of kills for Arizona.
Arizona dropped the third set, 23-25, to lose the match. The Wildcats fought off five match points before the Red Raiders won the match on a service error from Arizona. Wilson led the offense with five kills and a .308 clip. Cisneros and Jones recorded two kills each. Arizona's defense totaled four blocks and Jones and
Sydnie Vanek had two blocks each.
The Wildcats will welcome No. 13 TCU to McKale Center on Friday, October 31 at 6 p.m. MST.
