No. 13 Arizona Takes Down Embry-Riddle 113-42 in Final Exhibition Game

TUCSON, Ariz. - Senior forward Tobe Awaka dominated the paint with an 18-point, 14-rebound double-double as Arizona rolled to a 113-42 exhibition victory over Embry-Riddle on Monday night at McKale Center. 

The Wildcats showed their depth and defensive intensity from start to finish, holding the Eagles to just 28.6% shooting from the field while forcing 18 turnovers that led to transition opportunities throughout the contest.

Awaka set the tone early, scoring 14 of his 18 points in the first half while controlling the glass on both ends. Motiejus Krivas provided a steady interior presence with seven points and nine rebounds, helping Arizona dominate the boards with a 58-15 rebounding advantage. 

Freshman Ivan Kharchenkov added a strong offensive spark with 17 points, while also adding 2 steals defensively. Fellow freshman Brayden Burries chipped in with 13 points in 21 minutes of action and Koa Peat added six points, five rebounds and three assists in just 10 minutes. Arizona's offense was in rhythm all night, shooting 64.2% from the field and tallying 18 assists. 

In all, 15 of the 16 Wildcats on the roster reached the scoring column in the contest, with Evan Nelson and Sven Djopmo each contributing nine points off the bench. 

Defensively, the Wildcats were relentless, limiting Embry-Riddle to 26 points in the first half and using a 14-point scoring run to put the game out of reach. 

The victory capped off Arizona's exhibition slate as the Wildcats now turn their focus to the regular season opener next week in Las Vegas.

The Wildcats will take on Florida on Monday, Nov. 3 at 5:00 p.m. MST in Las Vegas. This game will be played live on TNT.
