We also want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us on the recent donor trip. The time we spent together— sharing stories and strengthening relationships—was a true reflection of what it means to be part of the Wildcat family.
Here’s a quick update on what just some of our student-athletes have accomplished recently:
Jay Friend (Men’s Tennis) won his first ATP Challenger Tour title and was also crowned ITA All-American Champion, which earns him a spot in the NCAA Individual Championship later this fall.
Women’s Golf won the NB3 Match Play Championship in New Mexico with a win over No. 7 Texas A&M in the finals. It’s the fourth tournament win for second-year head coach Giovana Maymon.
Volleyball recently took down No. 16 Baylor in dominating fashion at McKale Center, winning in three sets behind 19 kills from Jordan Wilson and 35 assists from Avery Scoggins. Volleyball also came home this past weekend with two road wins against UCF and Houston.
Swimming and Diving opened their season with wins over Grand Canyon and Northern Arizona at Hillenbrand Aquatic Center.
We had a number of student-athletes from our Triathlon team competing in the World Triathlon Championships in Australia this past week. What an amazing platform for them to showcase their incredible abilities!
Looking Ahead
Basketball season is here, and the excitement is off the charts. Our women’s team hosted a terrific open practice last week, and our men’s team took the floor Saturday for its first exhibition. This week, both programs head to Big 12 Media Days, marking the start of a new era for the women under Head Coach Becky Burke and Coach Lloyd’s team is ranked No. 13 in the country entering the season. Schedules with start times are available for both teams – men and women – so please make plans to join us in McKale and feel the energy for yourself. Tickets are going fast, so don’t miss your chance to experience the action in person. Buy your tickets here.
November is shaping up to be one of the most exciting months of the year for Arizona Athletics, with championship energy in all of our facilities and two marquee football Saturdays ahead. We’ll host Kansas on November 8 for Homecoming, a celebration of tradition and community spirit, and Baylor on November 22 for Hall of Fame Weekend, when past and present champions will share the spotlight. It’s the perfect way to close the season—two defining games, one unforgettable atmosphere. Show up, be loud, and help our team finish strong.
We’ll also celebrate Arizona’s proud legacy at the 2025 Arizona Sports Hall of Fame induction on November 21. This year's class is nothing short of elite—Nick Foles, Channing Frye, Kevin Cordes, and standouts from our swimming, triathlon, and relay programs will join our storied Hall. Their accomplishments remind us of the excellence we carry forward and the standard that continues to inspire today’s Wildcats. If you’d like to celebrate with us, purchase tickets here and join us in honoring this remarkable class.
Your Impact
Because of your belief in our mission, we continue to build momentum. Every gift, every cheer, every moment of engagement fuels our ability to provide life-changing experiences for our 504 student-athletes.
Through initiatives like the C-Suite Lab and Cats Connect, our student-athletes and staff are learning directly from Arizona’s most influential business and community leaders. Inspiring people such as Alison Flynn Gaffney, Terry Lundgren, and Brad Slater have all been on campus recently to share their experiences and their insights that can help our Wildcats see what’s possible beyond sport. These conversations reflect the heart of our work: connecting the University of Arizona with the broader community to inspire the next generation of leaders.
In addition to the R. Ken Coit commitment we announced last month, we are grateful to the estate of alumnus Paul Muscenti (’58) for the $4.4 million gift to Arizona Athletics that will benefit all student-athletes. And we recently announced an expanded partnership with Banner – University Medicine, which includes naming them as the Official Healthcare Provider of Arizona Athletics.
