SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – No. 21 Arizona won the final game of the series at Utah, 7-4, to secure the series victory. Arizona scored seven runs on eight hits and
Dakota Kennedy and
Emily Schepp each had two hits.
Allie Skaggs hit a grand slam to push the Cats past the Utes in the sixth inning to lead the team with four RBI.
Utah walked in a run to take a 1-0 lead in the first and scored their second run of the game on an RBI double in the second inning.
In the third, the Utes scored two to extend their lead with an RBI single and an RBI double.
Arizona took the lead in the fifth inning after scoring six runs. Kennedy drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in the first run and
Regan Shockey drove in the second run with an RBI groundout to bring the game within two runs. Skaggs hit her grand slam to give Arizona the lead – her 10th home run of the season and seventh grand slam of her career.
Kennedy extended Arizona's lead to three runs with an RBI double – her seventh of the season – in the sixth to make it 7-4.
Miranda Stoddard earned the win in the circle to improve to 4-7 on the season.
Aissa Silva pitched the first two innings and gave up two runs to Utah.
Ali Blanchard relived Silva in the third and allowed two runs to score before Stoddard entered the circle in the fourth. Stoddard held Utah scoreless on three hits in four innings of work to close out the win for Arizona.
