TUCSON, Ariz. - Arizona Women's Basketball improved to 2-0 after defeating Tarleton State 62-39 Thursday evening at McKale Center.
Skylar Jones led the Wildcats with 16 points, 14 of which came in a dominant first half.
Breya Cunningham followed closely with 15 points, marking her second consecutive game in double figures. The sophomore added eight rebounds and three blocks, anchoring the Wildcats' defense. Off the bench,
Mailien Rolf contributed nine rebounds and three steals to lead defensively, while
Jada Williams added nine points and a team-high four assists.

Montaya Dew scored her first collegiate basket with a three-pointer that energized the crowd at McKale.
Arizona shot 40% from the field and 25% from three-point range, outpacing Tarleton State's 32.1% shooting overall. The Wildcats capitalized on turnovers, converting 15 points off Texas' mistakes compared to only 3 points for the Texans. Arizona also led in second-chance points with 15, thanks to their control of the boards, out-rebounding Tarleton 38-29.
Defensively, the Wildcats were relentless, totaling 11 steals, four blocks, and 28 defensive rebounds. Arizona held the lead for nearly the entire game—39 minutes and 44 seconds—with their largest advantage reaching 25 points late in the fourth quarter.
