PALM SPRINGS, Calif. - Arizona women's basketball fell to Vanderbilt, 71-60, in a hard-fought game at Acrisure Arena Tuesday afternoon. Despite the loss, the Wildcats saw standout performances from
Jada Williams and
Breya Cunningham.
Williams set a season high with 20 points and a career high of six steals, playing nearly 39 minutes. The sophomore guard also contributed five rebounds and hit three three-pointers. Cunningham recorded a season high 17 points while pulling down nine rebounds, including four on the offensive end.
Arizona (6-2) Â trailed 31-18 at halftime. Turning the page in the second half, the Cats outscored the Commodores in the fourth quarter (23-21), but could not overcome the early deficit.Â
Vanderbilt (7-0) was led by Khamil Pierre, who posted a double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds, and Mikayla Blakes, who added 23 points.
Arizona will look to bounce back tomorrow against former Pac-12 foe Cal at 12 p.m. MST in Palm Springs.Â
