CHICAGO - Arizona Women's Basketball maintained their undefeated streak with an 84-48 victory over Chicago State at the Emil and Patricia A. Jones Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats were dominant on both ends, setting a season-high 57 rebounds and shooting 44% from the field. Breya Cunningham led with 14 points, five rebounds, two blocks, and two assists in just 15 minutes. Lauryn Swann added 12 points, five rebounds, and a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the free-throw line. Skylar Jones and Erin Tack contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively, while Mailien Rolf anchored the defensive effort with a game-high 10 rebounds.
Freshmen played a pivotal role, accounting for 50% of the team's scoring output.Â
Montaya Dew and Katarina Knezevic both posted career highs; Dew tallied seven points and eight rebounds, while Knezevic chipped in six points and three boards. Tack also achieved a career-best with 10 points, including 6-of-10 from the charity stripe.
The Wildcats held Chicago State to just 27% shooting from the field and out rebounded them by a margin of 29. Arizona's bench contributed 46 points compared to Chicago State's 10.
The Wildcats established control early with a 26-point first quarter and never looked back. Their largest lead of 37 points came late in the fourth quarter. Arizona's 20 points in second-chance opportunities and 24 points off turnovers cemented the dominant win.
Arizona improves to 5-0 on the season. Next up, the Wildcats will head to Flagstaff to face Northern Arizona on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. MST.
