HOUSTON, Texas – The Wildcats lost to the Houston Cougars, 1-0, on Sunday afternoon in Houston. Arizona dropped to 9-4-2 (4-3-1 Big 12).
The first half ended with both teams scoreless on eight shots each.
Nicole Dallin led the aggressive attack with four shots, but Houston's goalkeeper made five saves during the half. Arizona's defense held the Cougars to only three shots on goal with Sofia Cortes-Brown saving all three shots.
Houston opened the second half with a goal in the 53rd minute to break the tie. The Wildcats had five shots following the goal by the Cougars but had no luck.
Arizona and Houston both recorded 14 shots during the match. The Cats had nine shots on goal that were all saved by Houston's keeper.
Cortes-Brown tallied five saves in her third appearance this season.
Arizona will return home next week for their final pair of home matches against Kansas on Thursday, October 17 and Kansas State on Sunday, October 20.
