Arizona Falls at California

BERKELEY, Calif. - Arizona women's soccer fell at California on Thursday in a 2-0 decision. With the loss, Arizona moves to 4-3-3 on the season while Cal improves to 5-3-2.

The Wildcats ended the match with nine shots of which five were on goal. Nicole Dallin charted four of those nine shots.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, and the two teams totaled six shots between them in the initial period. Dallin, Nyota Katembo and Jessica Ramirez each had a shot that was on-target in the first half.

In the 53rd minute Cal scored with Ari Manrique picking the ball up from Sarah Rice. She turned around with the ball and sent it sailing over the head of Hope Hisey.

Manrique found the back of the net again in the 77th minute, again picking it up from the Arizona defense and getting it past Hisey.

The Wildcats held Cal to only five shots in the match, below the Golden Bears' average of 9.4 per game.

Arizona returns to action Sunday, Oct. 1 as it takes on No. 3 Stanford at 1:00 p.m.
