PALO ALTO, Calif. – No. 20 Arizona fell to No. 7 Stanford, 5-1 on Thursday to open the series. The Cats are now 24-13 (3-7 Pac-12) this season.

Four Wildcats had hits in the game, but Arizona left five runners on base during the game.

The first three innings were scoreless for both teams. Arizona allowed only one baserunner through three.

Stanford scored four runs in the fourth on a pair of fielder's choice plays and a two-RBI single.

In the fifth, Skaggs pushed across Arizona's only run of the game on an RBI single – her 55th RBI of the season.

The Cardinal added another run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double for a 5-1 lead.

Devyn Netz (11-10) pitched the first 5.0 innings to pick up the loss. She struck out seven batters and allowed only one earned run.
Sydney Somerndike entered in relief in the sixth, giving up one run in two innings.
