The 18th ranked Arizona Wildcats beach volleyball team (12-3) has five matches on the slate this week, starting on Wednesday at Arizona State followed by the Wildcat Spring Challenge at Bear Down Beach on Friday and Saturday.

* The 2023 season marks the 10th for Arizona head coach
Steve Walker at the helm of the Wildcats program. He's the only head coach the program has had since it was started in 2014. Walker's overall record as head coach at Arizona is 171-73.

* The Wildcats checked in at No. 18 in this weeks AVCA Beach Volleyball Top 20 rankings, up one spot from last week after wins against Texas A&M Corpus Christi and Central Arkansas.

* This weekend will feature two teams that have already paid a visit to Tucson this year in Colorado Mesa and UTEP. The Wildcats opened the 2023 season with a 5-0 win over UTEP and then the next day defeated Colorado Mesa, 3-2.

* Super senior
Sarah Blacker opted to use her extra year of eligibility and return to the Wildcats in 2023. In doing so, she has a chance to become the winningest player in Arizona Beach Volleyball history. Blacker has 84 career wins entering this weekend, just three away from passing the trio of Madison Witt, McKenna Witt and Brooke Burling that have 86 to hold the Arizona career wins record.

* The pair of
Alana Rennie and
Grace Cook are 13-2 overall on the season and 13-1 at the No. 3 pair position in the lineup. They are ranked as the second-best pair in the country at No. 3 by collegebeachvb.com.

* In 15 matches this season, Rennie and Cook have gone to a third set just once.

* Also playing at a high level are the No. 5 pair of
Annie Kost and
Miranda Error. They are 11-3 on the year and 10-3 at the No. 5 spot. White and Fitzsimmons are 3-1 in 3 set matches this season.

* Blacker and
Alex Parkhurst have been the No. 1 pair for the Wildcats this season and have compiled a 5-3 record so far. Last week at Pepperdine, the pair logged wins against the Waves and San Francisco.

* The No. 1 pair of
Sarah Blacker and
Alex Parkhurst are 10-5 on the season but have won their last four matches and seven of the last eight overall.

* Recent additions to the lineup have been
Kali Uhl and
Dilara Gedikoglu at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots and they are 5-0. They have played a total of 11 sets in those five matches and opponents have score 15 or more points in just two of those sets.

Hope Shannon are 9-5 at the No. 2 spot in the lineup this season and have won their last four matches.
