CLEARWATER, Fla. – No. 10 Arizona fell to No. 6 Florida State 6-4 on the first day of the Clearwater Invitational. The Wildcats scored four runs on eight hits and
Carlie Scupin had the only home run of the game – a solo shot to center field.
Paige Dimler and
Olivia DiNardo went 2-for-3 in the game.
The first inning was scoreless but Florida State scored three in the second to take an early lead. The Seminoles added two more in the third and one in the fourth to extend their lead to 6-0.
The Wildcats battled in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs to attempt the comeback. Scupin scored Arizona's first run of the game on her solo homer.
Tayler Biehl had a triple and DiNardo sent her home on an RBI single.
Jasmine Perezchica forced a throwing error to bring home two runs for the Cats.
Devyn Netz (3-1) was the losing pitcher, allowing seven hits and striking out only one Seminole in 3.1 innings.

Aissa Silva entered in relief for Netz. Silva retired 10 of the 12 batters she faced.
