PULLMAN, Wash. -- The Arizona Wildcats (3-0-5, 0-0-1) fell to the Washington State Cougars (7-1-1, 1-0-0) 2-0 in the first Pac-12 conference match of the season. 

The Cats finished the game with shot ratio of 7-15 but were able to make two shots on goal. The two came from redshirt senior Jill Aguilera and junior Madison Goerlinger. Junior keeper Hope Hisey picked up four saves in the first half bringing her overall total to 51 on the season. 

The Cats were able to pull out an impressive defensive game against the Cougars, with most of their attempts at the goal being blocked by Arizona defense. The Arizona defense was led by redshirt senior Sabrina Enciso and junior Mariah Dunn, while Goerlinger and freshman Gianna Christiansen picked up considerable minutes in the midfield. 

Goerlinger and Aguilera led the shot attempts against WSU with freshman Marley Chappel and sophomores Nicole Dallin and Jenna Studer following close behind. 

UP NEXT
The Cats will return home to take of UCLA and USC next weekend. The Wildcats will face UCLA on Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. MST and USC on Sunday Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. MST.
