SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- The No. 15 Arizona Wildcats advanced to 7-1 after going 1-1 at the Cal Poly Tri-Match. After pulling a 4-1 victory over Boise State the Cats went on to fall to their first opponent, No. 5 Cal Poly. The Sand Cats did not go down easy as they fought to the end in a close 3-2 finish.
Against Boise State the Arizona Wildcats earned their seventh victory of the season and second victory over Boise State this season.
Brooke Burling and
Alana Rennie advanced to 4-0 on the season after a quick match up against Boise States Benson and Hansen.
Alex Parkhurst and
Sarah Blacker were another pair that advanced to 4-0. On court No. 1 against Boise States, in a face off that took three sets, the Cats ended up clinching it in a 18-21, 21-18, 17-15 match up.
Natalie Anselmo and
Carly Lowry earned their fifth win of the season and
Olivia Hallaran and
Mady Noble picked up their third. First time pair
Dana Parker and Abby Russel were their only Wildcats to fall in a tight three set that that went 15-21, 21-18, 15-12, with the Cats barely falling to the Broncos.
Against No. 5 Cal Poly
Dana Parker and
Mady Noble extended their undefeated streak to 4-0 in a close three set match that ended in favor of the Cats. Court No. 3 quickly followed suit as
Natalie Anselmo and
Carly Lowry ended 2-0 on the day, giving another point to the Cats.
Unfortunately, the match against the Cal Poly Mustangs ended in Arizona's first loss of the season. The tournament play advances their record to 7-1 on the season. The Cats will be back in Bear Down Beach on Mar. 27 as they host the Pac-12 South Invitational. Over the duration of the two day tournament the Cats will take on, No. 19 Stanford, Oregon, Utah, and in-state rival ASU.
