TUCSON, Ariz. -- The Arizona Wildcats (6-3-0, 1-3-0) had a killer night against in-state rival Arizona State (6-1-2, 2-0-2). In their fifth victory in a row over the Devils, the Cats ended ASU's eight game undefeated streak with a final score of 1-0. The Cats dominated all fields throughout the night, out shooting the Devils 17-8, leading SOG 6-5 and leading corners 11-2. Keeper

Player of the match - Two Forwards and Their Defender
Defender Ava McCray was the lone goal scorer against ASU, putting Arizona on the board in the first half. After one unsuccessful shot 15 minutes prior, McCray made a killer header off of forward Jada Talley that found its way into the back of the net.
Along with McCray's five head shots, attempting to put Arizona on the board and increase their lead, forward Hannah Clifford took 4 shots with one being on goal, keeping the Devil's keeper on her toes.

In the 32nd minute of game play the Cats drew a corner kick that was taken by forward Jada Talley. The blow to the ball landed in the center of the box where it found McCray's head. She knew exactly what to do as she sunk it into the back of the net.

"They are always hard fought games, they are always really tight. Each of those games over the last few years--have been 1-nil games so I think we have just been fortunate over the course of those games to find a way to win them. Our team has done a really good job of that. I think [tonight] was a really competitive rivalry game that our players had to work really hard in. I thought we put them in some spots where we won some corners which is eventually how we got the goal. I think that was a big part of it."
