FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arizona Wildcats saw their season come to a close in the National Semifinals on Wednesday morning at the Blessings Golf Club.
The sixth-seeded Wildcats fell to No. 2 Duke 3-2 in a tightly contested semifinal match. The defending National Champions saw
Haley Moore Yu-Sang Hou win matches against the Blue Devils, but in the end, a 1-up victory by Duke's Gina Kim over
Bianca Pagdanganan sealed the victory for Duke and ended Arizona's season.
"I'm very proud of these young women," Coach
Laura Ianello said. "It was a heartbreaking finish, but with some absolutely amazing golf. Duke closed us out with two fantastic shots on the last two holes. I'm so proud of Yu-Sang and Haley finishing up their matches, and all the girls fought extremely hard. I'm amazingly proud of these young women.
"Making it to the semifinals is nothing to look down upon. I'm happy to have had a chance to defend our title."
Moore won her match 4&3 and improved to 5-0 in NCAA Championship Match Play, dating back to last season when she went 3-0. Moore topped Jaravee Boonchant, erasing a one-hole deficit on the front nine. Moore trailed after the seventh hole, and quickly tied it. But on the 10
th, Boonchant won the hole, taking a one-hole lead again.
But Moore won No. 11, 12, 13 14 and 15 to pull away and win 4&3.
Hou also fell behind early and trailed by two after two holes. But she got it all square by the fifth and took her first lead at hole No. 8. She won holes 10, 11 and 12 to take four-hole lead. Duke's Miranda Wang got it down to a one-hole deficit after 16, but You won 17 to end the match.

Kim came back and won 16 to take a one-hole lead. Both players parred No. 17 and then Kim iced the match on 18 with her second shot, which she hit out of a bunker to within feet of the hole, where she finished off a birdie and held off a charging Pagdanganan, who also birdied the hole.
Ya Chun Chang lost her match 2&1, as did junior
