Cats Set to Open Pac-12 Tournament Play in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- The Arizona Wildcats are set to make their 2019 debut at the Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday afternoon with a 12 p.m., tip-off against eighth-seeded USC. The No. 9 Wildcats open the tournament with a 17-14 regular season mark. 

The Cats are the two-time defending champions and are looking for their sixth Pac-12 Tournament title.

  • The Arizona Wildcats will open play in the Pac-12 Tournament on Wednesday afternoon with a matchup against No. 8 seed, USC. The Wildcats are 5-0 all-time against the Trojans in Pac-12 Tournament play. The two teams last met last season in the championship game, with Arizona winning, 75-61. 
  • The Wildcats will be making their 22nd appearance in the Pac-12 Tournament and have captured seven championships. Arizona enters this year's tournament as the two-time defending champion, having won in 2017 and 2018. 
  • Sophomore forward Ira Lee shot .626 from the floor in Pac-12 play this season. That's the highest mark by an Arizona player with at least 75 attempts since Joseph Blair shot .630 in 1993-94. Lee is 17 for his last 20 and has not missed more than two shots in a game since Feb. 7 versus Washington.  For the season, Lee shot .602 from the floor in 30 games played. 
  • Arizona averaged 13,744 fans in 17 home games this season, leading the Pac-12 in attendance for a 35th straight season. 
  • Freshman Brandon Williams, who is averaging 11.3 points per game in 25 contests, was selected as All-Pac-12 All-Freshman honorable mention. Williams missed six conference games with a knee injury, but averaged a team-best 11.7 points per game in conference play. 
  • In 18 Pac-12 games this season, Arizona's bench outscored the opposition by 115 points. The bench scored at least 20 points in 16 games this season. 
    Redshirt junior center Chase Jeter shot .589 from the floor this season, which is the fifth-best mark in the Pac-12 Conference.
