Arizona Soccer Falls to Penn State 4-3 in OT to End Post Season

Palo Alto, Calif. - Arizona Soccer fell to No. 4 Seed Penn State 4-3 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats held their ground for the first 50' of the match, scoring the first two goals of the game. They kept in their attacking third for a majority of the first half, not letting up on the Nittany Lions. Penn State tied the game up in the second but Jill Aguilera came back and broke the tie. Eventually Penn State ended it in the seventh minute of OT. The Cats walk away with a record of 12-7-1 to end the season.

Arizona Goals

70' Jill Aguilera

Play of the Match - First Timers
Both Midfielder Grace Santos and Forward Iyana Zimmerman scored, not only their first goal of the season, but the first goal of their Arizona careers. Santos scored her goal with the keeper abandoning her position as the ball was blocked off a Penn State player. The ball snuck past the keeper and put the Cats on the board. Iyana's goal came from the corner of the box and sunk itself in the back of the net.

Woman of the Match - Tie Breaker
Forward Jill Aguilera scored the tiebreaker in the 70' of game play. She came back quickly after Penn State scored back-to-back goals to tie the game. The ball barely grazed the keeper but ended up in the back of the net all the same. This is Aguilera's ninth goal of the 2019 season.

By The Numbers
3 - Three of Arizona's four postseason goals were scored by players who scored their first goal of the season (Moga, Zimmerman and Santos).

41 - Arizona ends the season with 41 goals, with 60% of them coming from three players (Talley, Aguilera, and Wilson). This is the most goals Arizona has scored since 2014.
