The 12th-ranked Arizona Beach Volleyball team concluded match play at Zuma Beach, dropping matches to No. 2 Pepperdine and No. 5 Cal Poly. The Wildcats fell 4-1 in both matches and now have an overall record of 16-8.
The Cats opened up the day's play facing No. 2 Pepperdine (21-3) in a tough battle, but fell to the Waves. Brooke Burling and Jonny Baham represented as Arizona's No. 4 team. The tandem defeated Pepperdine's Skylar Caputo and Alexis Filippone, 21-17, 21-18.
In the following match, the Wildcats battled, but fell to No. 5 Cal Poly (23-5). Burling and Baham competed at the No. 5 position and defeated the Mustangs Heather Pembroke and Hannah Hubbard, 21-16, 21-18.
This brings sophomore defender Brooke Burling to an individual record of 18-6 and freshman defender Jonny Baham to a 20-5 individual record.
Next, Arizona travels to Tempe, Ariz. to face Arizona State Wednesday, April 18. This will be the rivals' second matchup of the 2018 season.
