The Arizona Wildcats head into Senior Day versus California following their 75-67 win over Stanford on Thursday night.
Dusan Ristic tied the second-highest scoring game of his career with 21 points in the victory, doing so on an efficient 10 of 15 (.667) shooting night from the field. Arizona led for 36:40 of Thursday's win after gaining control of the game by holding the Cardinal scoreless for just over five minutes midway through the first half.
Saturday is Senior Day for the Wildcats honoring a handful of seniors, including
Talbott Denny,
Keanu Pinder,
Parker Jackson-Cartwright and
Dusan Ristic. UA is 7-1 on Senior Day under head coach
Sean Miller.
UA is 81-3 (.964) inside McKale Center since the start of the 2013-14 season, which ranks as the nation's best home record during that span. Arizona has not lost multiple home games in the same season since going 14-2 in McKale Center during the 2012-13 season.
Dusan Ristic became the all-time winningest player in Arizona Basketball history in his team's eight-point win over Stanford on Thursday. He surpassed Matt Muehlebach (1988-91) and Kaleb Tarczewski (2013-16) for the top spot on the wins list with his 111
th career victory. Ristic enters Senior Day with a record of 111-24 (.822) in games he's appeared in as a Wildcat.
The Wildcats enter Saturday having already clinched at least a share of the Pac-12 regular season championship with a one-game lead over USC in the conference standings. Arizona has won four Pac-12 regular season championships in the last five seasons.
Allonzo Trier heads into Saturday as one of only three players in the nation in the 50-40-85 club, shooting greater than 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from three and 85 percent at the foul line. The only other players in this distinction are Jerrick Harding at Weber State and Marcus Derrickson of Georgetown.
During the four-year careers of
Dusan Ristic and
Parker Jackson-Cartwright, Arizona has posted an impressive 63-3 (.954) record at home and 32-3 (.914) in Pac-12 home games.
With yet another double-double in Arizona's win over Stanford, freshman
Deandre Ayton has secured 20 double-doubles in his 30 appearances this season. Having already destroyed the UA freshman mark of 12, Ayton is now tied with Jordan Hill (2008-09) for the second most double-doubles in a season in Arizona history. The leader is Al Fleming with 22 double-doubles during the 1974-75 season. The Pac-12 Conference freshman double-double record is 23 by Kevin Love in 2008-08.
